VISION

Wellington International Airport is the second busiest airport in New Zealand handling a total of 6 million total passengers per year. They focus on connecting central New Zealand to the world.

Their vision was to simplify their cybersecurity landscape and to partner with a specialist cybersecurity company that could provide expert thought leadership that made a real difference.

OUR APPROACH

DEFEND focused on providing value early, by understanding their current landscape and how we could join them on their cyber resilience journey. It was important to recognise existing work performed as well as existing investments made. The initial quick win was to implement DEFEND’s award-winning security operations service (iCE) providing 24x7x365 proactive tuning, monitoring and responding of alerts and incidents.

Through the success of the initial DEFEND iCE service, Wellington International Airport sought further cybersecurity support which we delivered via Cybersecurity Transformation Service (CTS). This enhanced partnership focuses on the overall security posture while working in tandem with their internal team. This included:

• M365 configuration assessment against industry benchmarks and best practice
• Cybersecurity Strategy
• Tactical and strategic remediation
• Cybersecurity Governance, Policies, and standards
• Cybersecurity Programme

This has not only enabled a tangible increase in cyber resiliency but has developed a future facing roadmap for continuous improvement.
